The Atlas Product Spotlight - N Gunderson 7550 Double Door and 7538 Single Door Box Car
In 2012, BNSF acquired close to 600 Gunderson 7538 High Capacity box cars. Four years later, TTX Corporation placed orders for a similar 7550 box car. At this time, they have over 4,000 cars in their fleet with more cars ordered. With a gross rail load capacity of 286,000, these cars can carry a wide variety of products such as paper and bulk items. While they look similar in appearance, the 7550 and 7538 have a few unique differences. The 7550 features “grid sides” and double plug doors. The 7538 has a single plug door and a unique door step, just below the left side of the door opening. The Atlas Product Spotlight - HO U28C & U28CG Locomotives
The General Electric U28C locomotive, developed in 1966, provided a 300 horsepower increase over its predecessor, the U25C. Built on a larger frame than the U25C, the model also incorporated other improvements, such as new floating bolster trucks. A passenger-hauling variant, the U28CG, was produced for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. These units were painted in the timeless red and silver Warbonnet paint scheme and put into service on the Texas Chief, replacing well aged F units. Upon being retired from freight service the U28CGs were repainted into the standard Santa Fe freight colors of blue and yellow.
Early U30Cs were based on the U28C design and were visually identical to the Phase II U28C, of which this new model from Atlas represents.

The Atlas Product Spotlight - N GP-39-2 Locomotive
The GP39-2 was offered by EMD as a fuel-efficient alternative to their very popular GP38-2 model. This efficiency resulted from the use of a turbocharged 12-cylinder 645E3 diesel engine, as opposed to the non-turbocharged 16-cylinder prime mover in the GP38-2. The use of a turbocharger increased the horsepower output from 2,000 to 2,300hp with four fewer cylinders. One other benefit of the turbocharger is improved operation at higher altitudes where thin air causes normally-aspirated diesels to lose power and produce excess smoke. The largest original fleet of GP39-2s was assembled by the Santa Fe who, over the course of seven years, acquired a total of 106 units.
